Do you feel constantly on edge, tense, overthinking, or unable to fully relax — even when nothing seems wrong?
Often, anxiety is not happening for “no reason.” It can be the sign of a stress response that never fully completed.
When we go through threat, overwhelm, chronic stress, or emotionally painful experiences, the nervous system may stay activated long after the event has passed. This can happen after a recent experience with traumatic qualities - such as loss, conflict, relocation, burnout, or medical stress - and it can also begin much earlier in childhood.
Sometimes the mind forgets, but the nervous system remembers. It stays prepared for danger, even in safe moments.
This can feel like racing thoughts, difficulty resting, irritability, panic, insomnia, or always waiting for something bad to happen.
The good news is that anxiety is often a pattern of protection, not a flaw. When the nervous system receives the right support, it can begin to discharge stress hormones, settle, update, and feel safe again.
